3. Brian Rothenbeck & the Adeventuring Party - "Life Is A Highway to The Danger Zone"
from "Basilisk"
Locaton: Hackettstown, NJ
www.rothenbeck.com
Before The Adventuring Party, Brian Rothenbeck had established a career as a solo artist with two releases on New Jersey's Combover Records: a full-length album, Secret Monsters (2013) and a 2014 split 7" with fellow New Jersey musician Joe Galuppo. Then one night outside a bar in Boonton, NJ, a group of musicians fell to discussing their love of Dungeons and Dragons, and vowed to begin a new campaign. Thus, The Adventuring Party was born.
When Brian was ready to begin a new album, he called on his fellow campaigners for aid: drummer Rory Burns, bassist Matt Logie, and keyboardist Jay Gogel - all of whom are veterans of different areas of the music scene. Together, they joined engineer Ed Auletta (Leathermouth) to create Basilisk. Over the following year at North End Recording in Passaic, NJ, the songs grew and took on new life along with the band.
Their eclectic and encyclopaedic musical influences show in this album's lush arrangements - from the bombast of punk rock to quiet and confessional folk and the rich instrumentation of Americana. However, Rothenbeck's raw and vulnerable lyrics, honed through years of solo touring, shine.

8. Ancient Babies - "Na5"
from "Put Me Back in the Sunshine"
Location: Montclair, NJ
ancientbabies.com
Ancient Babies is a supergroup started by five seasoned session musicians who cut their molars laying down beats for superstars like Selena Gomez, Kanye West, the Beatles, and Mozart. They met on the International Space Station while foiling a plot to kill rock 'n' roll. The Babies draw inspiration from Baltic flugelhorn chants, late poems by Hafiz, and the quadratic formula. Led by noted lumberjack Ben Morss, their sophomore effort Freshmen No More rocketed to the top of the charts a week before it was released or recorded.
Music to make you think, laugh, cry, and/or tear off your clothes and dance around the room.

Drawing from an eclectic mix of musical backgrounds, Moonroof cultivates their sound in a snug suburban Philadelphia bedroom. After establishing their chemistry at Bloomsburg University in early 2016, the college homies migrated to the Philly scene to join in on the vibrant DIY community. The band's style is an uncanny melding of pop, punk, garage, emo and shoegaze influences over beats that blend funk and hip-hop, making for a genre-defying sound that stands alone in Philly's current soundscape.

13. Beth Wimmer - "Mexico"
from "Bookmark"
Location: Berg, Switzerland via Santa Monica, CA
www.bethwimmer.com
Beth Wimmer traverses a panoramic, emotional palette with her gut-straight songs of humanness, hope and humor - and personal and spiritual redemption. Her music vibrates within the unique genre of Americana - embracing Alt-Country, Rock, and Folk music.
"Bookmark", Wimmer's 1st new collection in 6 years, offers 9 original songs, and one fantasy fulfilled of covering the late David Bowie's "Starman". As usual, Wimmer changes up her styles and energies, and the tunes' various stories are playful, intelligent, revealing and hopeful. Sometimes dreamlike, sometimes presented by different characters seemingly residing within Wimmer, "Bookmark" burns with guitar based grooves, ambience, infectious rhythms, and Wimmer's mature vocal delivery.

14. Hudson Dusters (featuring Ryder Cooley) - "The Part That Matters To Me [Live at Club Helsinki Hudson]"
Studio Version Will Appear On "Dare To Dream"
Location: Catskill, NY
www.indiegogo.com/projects/hudson-dusters-album#
The Hudson Dusters consist of Jon B Woodin and Foggy Otis, two multi-faceted singer songwriters. On stage with the Dusters Woodin mainly plays acoustic guitar (and occasionally concertina) but he is very accomplished on a multitude of instruments. Foggy plays ukulele. His mastery of the diminutive 4-string instrument approaches it from a perspective all his own with a vocabulary ranging from delicately woven folk-ballads to all out, fuzzed up rockers.
