2. The Vice Rags - "One Heart"
from the album "The Vice Rags"

Location: Asbury Park, NJ

thevicerags.bandcamp.com

The Vice Rags are a breath of fresh New Jersey Turnpike air. A rock n roll band that’s willing to give you the unvarnished truth, complete with three chords and a deadly hook, just the way you like it.

Though they're new to the scene, this Asbury Park-based band of Garden State natives has been a long time coming. Paul Rosevear (vocals/guitar) and Joe Chyb (drums) grew up together in the suburb of North Brunswick. Ten miles west, Jack Roberts (guitar) and Gay Elvis (bass/vocals) grew up together in the suburb of Hillsborough. Twenty years later, the two halves came together and The Vice Rags were born.

jokersrepublic.bandcamp.com/releases

Joker’s Republic are an up-and-coming Ska-Punk power trio from North NJ influenced by the likes of Green Day, Reel Big Fish, and Streetlight Manifesto. Their debut EP “Anti-Social Media” is a record asks the tough, yet important questions in life like “Who are we?” “Why are we here?” and “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?” With drummer Pat Elwood, bassist Billy Smolen, and guitarist/front man Austen Gray (who we believe to be a robot with bad syntax), the band puts on insanely fun high-energy shows the likes of which you’ve never seen (unless you frequent your local 24-Hour Walmart between the hours of 1-4 AM EST).

11. Wynward - "Give Up"
from the album "Tides"
Location: Brick, NJ
wynwardnj.com
Wynward is a band with a raw, energetic and personal attitude. Their sound blurs the lines between different genres, including alternative rock and grunge, revealing a rather eclectic approach to songwriting and insane musicianship across the board. Hailing from Ocean County, New Jersey, The band members share a long-lasting musical bond that has been going on for over 15 years. Their personal friendships are intertwined with their artistic growth. The band has been busy making new music as of late, and they recently finished up their brand new studio effort, Tides. The full-length album will be released on December 1st, 2017;of which is a collection of rock songs that highlight the band’s fondness for great melodies, direct lyrics, and edgy energy. The band’s massive rhythm sections and thick walls of guitar echo the work of artists as diverse as Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Pearl Jam—just to mention but a few.

14. Paper Machetes - "Ghosts"

15. The Fisherman & The Sea - "Beggar Princess"
from the EP "Beggar Princess"
Location: Helsinki, Finland
www.thefishermanandthesea.com
Hospitalized in late 2016 for pneumonia and forced to abandon all lofty plans of recording his debut album in a studio, The Fisherman went into guerrilla mode and decided to do it all on his own. He started to record his songs at home and formed his band The Sea – a raggedy band of likeminded sisters and brothers – in the process.
On their debut EP 'Beggar Princess' the band's melodic scandinavian melancholy meets a boisterous universal hopefulness, exploring the light and the dark in us, utilizing a variety of musical emotion from grunge to folk and pop to ambience. It’s the first of 4 EPs surrounding the release of their debut album ’The Hurt & The Humour’ in May 2018.
